Overview
The Resolving Conflict Creatively Program (RCCP) is a unique approach to reducing conflict at the school level. It is a curriculum based Restorative Justice program that focuses on intervention through mediation to meet the program objectives. The focus of this program is to strengthen school safety, reduce day-time juvenile arrests and promote completion of the k-12 education.

Objectives
  • Promote the victims healing from the effects of the crime.
  • Engage with offenders to establish accountability and responsibility for the consequences of their actions.
  • Supports mediation and communication about how conflict started and who was involved.
  • Encourage and facilitate appropriate consequences/reparation for of-fenders.
  • Seek reconciliation between the victim and offender where possible.
  • Equip the offender(s) with the tools necessary to resolve conflict and reintegrate back into school rather than face traditional school expulsion.

Action Plan
  • Problem occurs
  • Students are sent home for the remainder of the school day/ Referral is submitted to Fighting Back Santa Maria Valley
  • Next Day mediation & intervention conference occurs (Assessment tool used)
  • Consequences established
  • Offender attends Conflict Resolution Course
  • Follow up occurs (re-assessment)
